Emergency
We all know how stressful it is when you have an animal with a medical emergency. If you have horses or farm animals, you know these situations always seem to arise after hours or on a holiday. Rest assured, Dr. Brett is available to cover emergencies, no matter when they occur.
In the event of an emergency, call 270-748-9191. Because Dr. Brett works solo, she may not be able to answer every phone call. Be sure to leave a voicemail and a text message, if possible. If you do not receive a response in a few minutes, reach out again because that means Dr. Brett has not received your message (cell reception is not reliable in some parts of our service area).
*Please note, there may be extremely rare instances that you may be referred elsewhere for emergency services. There are two reasons this may occur: Dr. Stratmeyer is either unavailable (due to travel, illness, or unable to leave a critical patient) or the emergency requires more intensive care than can be provided on the farm.
Large Animal
We are a full service mobile large animal clinic. Our services are very similar to what you would expect from any large animal general practice, we just travel to your farm rather than you hauling to us. If it can be done on the farm, we can probably do it! The lists below are not exclusive. Please reach out with any questions.

End of life care
Saying goodbye to a beloved family member is never easy. It's often harder when you have to make the difficult decision to ease their suffering. Stratmeyer Veterinary Services strives to make this process as easy and stress-free as possible for everyone involved. Dr. Brett will come to your home where your pet is most comfortable. They can spend their final moments being loved on by their favorite people in their favorite spot, whether that be their bed, outside, in their favorite chair, or on the floor. Your pet will never be out of your sight, and you can love on them throughout the whole process. We give all our patients an initial sedation to help them relax and relieve any pain they may be feeling. Their final moments are very calm, and they drift off in the arms of the people they love most.
After your pet has passed away, you are free to bury your pet, or we can help with cremation services. Dr. Brett can take your pet to the crematory, or you can arrange your own transportation if that is your preference.
*Cremation services are not available for larger animals, like horses and cows, due to their size. You will need to have arrangements made in advance for large animals, as disposal methods will determine the legally approved method of euthanasia. It is your responsibility to be aware of and follow your state and local government's burial laws.
